With a passion for working with people to help make their concept a reality, Rob Lyon has been crafting high quality homes in Marlborough for more than 35 years.
Born and raised in Marlborough, Rob completed his carpentry apprenticeship in Blenheim and honed his skills working on a range of residential projects across the region.
Keen to develop his own signature style, Rob established Rob Lyon Builders in 2000 and has since built himself a reputation for building excellence and exceptional project management.
Larry Kendall
Leading Hand - Licensed Building Practitioner
When Larry did his carpentry apprenticeship more than 40 years ago, apart from a few niche systems, builders did the whole job from laying the foundations, doing the framing and installing the roof.
As the industry has become more specialised, his knowledge and wide skill set have been invaluable for crafting the sometimes complex components of architectural builds and untangling challenges on renovation jobs.
A true craftsman, Larry’s practical advice and mentorship of our apprentices and younger builders is priceless.
Phil Carey
Trade Qualified
After many years working in the forestry industry, Phil joined the team eight years ago and has since worked his way through his apprenticeship under the expert eye of Larry and Rob. In his spare time Phil heads outdoors for a spot of hunting and fishing.

Robbie Johnson
Trade Qualified
Robbie joined our team in late 2022, with five year's carpentry experience. He's also a keen photographer and loves flying his drone - check out our Facebook and Instagram accounts to see some of his unique shots of our jobs. As a qualified pilot, you may even see Robbie flying in the skies above Marlborough at the weekend.
Adam Coleman
Builder's Apprentice
Our newest recruit, Adam, joined us in mid-2023 on a trial run, fresh out of Marlborough Boys' College. As a keen outdoorsman with a practical hands-on approach, construction is a great fit for Adam, and we were delighted when he decided to join our team as an apprentice while completing his trade certificate.
